A Family Day in Salcey Forest
March 29, 2026As winter starts to come to an end its nice to be able to get out in the fresh air with family and let the children have fun in nature. Salcey forest is a lovely place to be able to do this with a great visitor centre as well as lots of relatively uncrowded trails and forest to play in. On a previous visit grandchildren Ava and Sophie had found a giant sea saw that they wanted to show everybody and so we set of towards that getting somewhat distracted on the way. After all who can resist going through a tunnel when the opportunity arises:

After this brief distraction they resumed the search for the sea-saw!
It was indeed quite a monster, and from a H&S perspective a potential nightmare, however, we were as careful as we could be. It was fun trying to see how many people we could get on it and how to move people around get get a balance. Fortunately it was quite solid!

After a bit of fun on the sea-saw it was back to some den building, where the adults were tasked be collecting and delivering building materials. They were very demanding employers, but the end result was very impressive.

Overall a lovely day out and a place we will certainly return to, hopefully with bikes next time.
